Russia vs France: Preview and Predictions
Russia vs France
International – Friendly
Date: Tuesday, 27 March 2018
Kick-Off at 16:50 UK
Venue: Stadion Krestovskyi (St. Petersburg)
France have been in fine form through most of their World Cup Qualifiers campaign and they topped the Group A quite convincingly, building on the success with a 2-0 win over Wales and a 2-2 draw against Germany in two November friendlies. They’ve been regularly scoring numbers of goals but Didier Deschamps’ men certainly have a lot to prove ahead of the final tournament in Russia.
Les Tricolores meet Colombia just days ahead of their trip to St. Petersburg but the clash at Stadion Krestovskyi will surely be a very important test for them, as one of the World Cup venues and not just as a part of their campaign to lift the team spirits. The home side will be no easy targets but with struggles of their own amid a tough schedule, it’s tough to make a case for them to shut down France.
Russia come into the March clashes after seeing out a 0-1 loss to Argentina and a thriller 3-3 draw against Spain in November, where they’ve proven great character and we do believe Stanislav Cherchesov’s men will be very competitive. We have seen some great fixtures on their end too and we hope for another such contest on the day!
Russia vs France: Head-to-head
The sides have met just one over the past 15 years and France have bagged a 4-2 win in March 2016, with goals from Kante, Gignac, Payet, and Coman.
Russia have bagged two wins in six head-to-head games, including a 1998 friendly and a 1999 World Cup Qualifier.
We’ve seen five or more goals in three of their last four matchups.
Russia vs France: Prediction
We will back France to put on a confident display in St. Petersburg and go for an Away win at 1.66.
We do believe we’re in for another thriller clash in Russia and we’ll now also back Over 2.5 goals FT, which looks like a generous pick at 1.80.
