Portugal vs Netherlands: Preview and Predictions
Portugal vs Netherlands
International – Friendly Match
Date: Monday, 26 March 2018
Kick-Off at 19:30 UK
Venue: Stade de Genève (Genève).
In a very interesting friendly clash, Portugal and Netherlands are going to face each other on Monday evening. The game is going to be played in Genève, and the crowd should be able to spectate an exciting match.
Current European champions booked their ticket to Russia in the latest round of the qualifiers with a home win over Switzerland. They have suffered only one defeat and managed to celebrate in all the others. Cristiano Ronaldo and the lads were very productive in front of the oppositions’ goal, while their defence was the tightest in the group. They were particularly efficient at home pitch where they scored 20 goals. After the European title, they want to be a shadow-contenders in the upcoming World Cup.
Netherlands failed to find their place in the biggest event of the season and that was a great disappointment for their fans. Ronald Koeman’s lads didn’t manage to skip past Sweden, who eventually qualified for the World Cup after beating Italy in the playoffs. They have improved a bit lately and managed to tie five victories in the last five matches including the friendlies. In the last three occasions, Netherlands managed to keep the clean sheet and that should be encouraging for Ronald Koeman.
Portugal vs Netherlands: Head-to-head
Portugal have been much more successful in their head to head clashes. Netherlands managed to celebrate a win only once and it was back in 1991. In the last four games, Portugal came out as the winners three times. Their matches have been moderate scoring ones.
Portugal vs Netherlands: Prediction
This one is very tricky to predict and if we are going to follow the tradition, Portugal should celebrate in this one.
Both sides have been very efficient lately and in this one they both should be able to find the net.
