Hungary vs Scotland: Preview and Predictions
Hungary vs Scotland
Date: Tuesday, 27 March 2018
Kick-Off at 19:00 UK
Venue: Groupama Arena (Budapest).
Both Hungary and Scotland have disappointed their fans in Friday’s friendlies and they will be looking to fix the impression and boost up the confidence with a rebound victory when they take on each other at Groupama Arena.
The Hungarians have been very easy to break down throughout the entire WC Qualification campaign, but we still did not expect them to ship as many as three to the likes of Kazakhstan. The hosts have conceded 14 in 10 qualifying games even though they had the likes of Faroe Islands, Latvia and Andorra as opponents besides Portugal and Switzerland.
Hoffenheim’s Adam Szalai (team’s top scorer in mentioned qualifications) has been one of the rarer bright sides in the mentioned defeat. Nemanja Nikolic, who has been enjoying his time with Chicago Fore in the ML has failed to leave and impact against the likes of Kazakhstan and he’ll hardly be able to shine against a much tougher defense of Scotland’s here.
The Scotsmen hosted World Cup contestant Costa Rica in what has marked Alex McLeish’s debut on the bench. A lot was expected from Oliver McBurnie in his maiden appearance for the national side, but he was just incapable of doing much in front of Costa Rica’s goal. Scotland have thus lost two friendlies on the bounce with the same 0-1 scoreline.
The match with Hungary should finally provide opportunities for the visitors to shine and produce in the final third.
Hungary vs Scotland: Head-to-head
This will only be the second head to head clash between Scotland and Hungry.
The Hungarians have picked up a demolishing 0-3 victory when the teams met each other in a friendly in August 2004.
