Venue: Stade de France (Saint-Denis, Paris).

France welcome Colombia in a friendly which server as an opportunity to polish the tactics for the World Cup 2018 in the summer.

The Les Bleus booked their tickets for the global tournament from a group that includes Sweden and the Netherlands. It wasn’t a straight forward affair for them as there were few hiccups along the way. A defeat to the Swedes and goal-less draw against Luxembourg were the lowest point and Didier Deschamps’ main concerns is about the team’s attacking unit. There is no doubt that their midfield is one of the most talented in the world at this point of time, but the strikers are simply not making use of the chances given to them.

Bad news for fans is that both Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial are likely to sit out of this contest, both struggling with fitness issues.

On the other hand, Colombia almost dropped out of the qualification as they finished the campaign on a four match win-less run. It was only the results elsewhere in the group that kept them in the zone, with Chile who missed out were just 1 point behind them. Post qualification to the World Cups, Colombia were beaten by South Korea in a friendly in November 2017. So, things are not looking bright for Jose Pekerman and the men in yellow.

When there is no doubt that there is plenty of talent in the Cafeteros set-up. But the big guns like James Rodriguez, Carlos Bacca and Radamel Falcao have failed to step-up under pressure.

France vs Colombia: Head-to-head

The teams met just twice in the past two decades and France won both tie by the same 1-0 score-line. Their last meeting was in the calendar year 2008 in a friendly.

France vs Colombia: Prediction

France are the team to back here, especially because of their ability to create a high number of scoring chances. Yet, this depends on how well their strikers perform in front of goal.

As far as Colombia is concerned, they are low on confidence with 1 win coming from their last 6 matches in all competitions. Besides, the team have a poor record against strong teams.
